Parking space row escalates when neighbour blocks in car with SCAFFOLDING
- The VW Passat owner found his vehicle trapped in the makeshift construction
- Huge scaffolding poles had been tightly screwed in place to imprison the car
- Police were called to the incident on an estate in Haywards Heath, West Sussex
A row over a parking space took a bizarre turn when one neighbour escalated the dispute by blocking in his rival’s car with scaffolding.
Police were called to the incident when the owner of a blue VW Passat found his vehicle completely trapped in the makeshift construction, on an estate in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.
A series of huge scaffolding poles had been tightly screwed in place to imprison the estate car and prevent it from being driven away.
A trailer next to the parking space had also been cemented into the ground beside the vehicle before the cage was built, police said.
Those involved are being ‘spoken to’ by officers about the dispute, which is said to be over a parking space

Inspector Darren Taylor, from Mid Sussex Police, was called to the scene of the escalating neighbourly conflict and was shocked at what he found.
He wrote: ‘Over 20 years of policing, I have dealt with many neighbour disputes and parking issues.
‘But nothing like this one which the team are dealing with at the moment in Haywards Heath.
‘Need to speak to the individual who thinks this is acceptable to do this to someone else’s vehicle.’

‘I know this job throws up many different things but I have never seen anything like it before.
‘My team are looking into what offences if any need to be investigated,’ he added.
