A plane passenger looked on in horror as the man in the seat next to him began casually clipping his nails before take off.

The footage was shared by Instagram user David Kim, originally from San Francisco, California, with a caption that read: ‘No, go ahead. Please clip your nails on the plane’ alongside a vomiting emoji.

The passengers on board the two-and-a-half-hour flight to Mallorca were left disgruntled by the unhygienic actions.

In the 10-second clip, the man sitting in the window seat can be seen wearing white shorts and a blue t-shirt.

He is holding a pair of clippers in his left hand that repeatedly click as he snips away at his nails.

A member of the cabin crew begins to speak over the tannoy and says: ‘We want you to sit back, relax and enjoy your two-and-a-half-hour flight to Puerto Mallorca.’

The unnamed man briefly pauses to inspect his work and the video ends a short time later.

It is not clear if the passenger continued his grooming routine after the camera stopped recording.

Earlier this month, a mother on board American Airlines flight also sparked fury when she began cutting her toddler’s toenails.

An image was later shared on Instagram by user Sean Sweeney, from Pittsburgh, alongside the caption: ‘Why this lady clipping her toddler’s toenails on the plane? #backofthebus #passengershaming @passengershaming.’

There are also several videos on Instagram channel Passenger Shaming that showcase other gross experiences of flyers including travellers putting on amorous displays and peeling dead skin from the bottom of their feet.
