A retired nurse has launched Britain’s first hospice for dogs giving them bucket list treats of steak dinners, trips to the beach and even a McDonald’s before they are put down.
Kind-hearted Nicola Coyle, 46, set up Grey Muzzle Canine Hospice Project after witnessing the heartbreak of dogs dumped by their owners.
The mother of two takes in hounds who face being put down or are terminally ill with less than six months left to live.

With the help of her two children Harvey, 14, and Olivia, 15, she has cared for more than 30 dogs at her Nottingham home and dreams of building a purpose-built hospice.
She told the Daily Mirror: ‘Many have not led a very nice life too, used for breeding or guard dogs, so when they’ve become unwell, they’re not useful any more and left.
‘The longest I had one is one year, the shortest was two weeks. It’s so rewarding when you can make those times special.
‘I don’t know when their birthdays are so we throw all of them a birthday party.
‘They just want to feel loved and safe. I really believe they should get a nice ending.’
