Royals traditionally keep the public guessing before revealing their choice of name.

William and Kate took two days to announce both George and Charlotte’s names, informing the Queen of their choice beforehand.

Mike and Zara Tindall used Twitter to unveil their daughter’s name six days after she was born in 2014.

Princess Beatrice’s name was announced two weeks after her birth in 1988.

In 1982, the Prince and Princess of Wales waited seven days before announcing Prince William’s name.

The name is French in origin and has a suitably strong meaning as ‘Famous in Battle’.

It is one of William’s middle names, Prince Louis of Battenberg was Prince William’s great-great-grandfather and the name of Louis Mountbatten, uncle of Prince Philip and last viceroy of India, who was killed by the IRA in a bomb attack on his yacht.

Prince George also has it as a middle name.

Arthur is William’s middle name and a link to the legendary King Arthur adds a special Royal pedigree. The name means ‘Bear’ – currently a popular baby name in its own right – and the ‘Art’ link suits this pair of History of Art graduates perfectly.

Charles is a time-honoured Royal name and ever popular with the upper classes, making it the perfect way to honour William’s father. It means ‘man’ or ‘warrior’ and suits our new Bonnie Prince.

Prince Louis takes his place in royal order of succession as fifth in line to the throne

Louis was a surprise choice, but Twitter is very excited about it

Welcome to the world Prince Louis Arthur Charles!

Over £100,000 has been wagered on guessing the name of the newborn prince – more than double the amount that the bookies took after Princess Charlotte birth

72 percent of all bets have been placed by women in their 30s and 50s and most bets are placed across Surrey and the Midlands, reports

A Prince Arthur would be ‘noble and courageous’, but a Prince Alexander would be a ‘defender of men’.

Prince Albert means ‘noble and bright’, but which do you prefer?

Prince Charles has no official engagements over the next few days and he’s only a few hundred miles away in Scotland, so why hasn’t he been to see grandchild #3 yet?

Closely followed by Arthur 3/1 and then Alexander 7/1

Wills and Kate are still ‘working on’ a name for Royal baby #3

Baby Prince STILL hasn’t had a visit from his grandfather Charles

It’s been four days of waiting for the name of Royal baby three, or #rb3 as he is now known on Twitter, with thousands of bets placed and eager fans desperate to find out, the world is STILL on tenterhooks…
