Man and woman deny murdering 10-month-old boy killed on Christmas Day

A MAN and woman have denied murdering a ten-month-old baby boy killed on Christmas Day.

Police were scrambled to a home in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, in the early hours of December 25 2020 to reports the tot was unresponsive.

Finley Boden was rushed to hospital but sadly couldn't be saved and was declared dead shortly after.

Stephen Boden, 29, and Shannon Marsden, 21, are accused of failing to seek medical assistance for Finley after he suffered multiple fractures and burns.

They pleaded not guilty to murder and two counts of neglect at Derby Crown Court today.

The pair also denied further allegations of supplying and possessing cannabis.

The charges of neglect are alleged to have taken place between November 17 and December 25, 2020.

Both were remanded in custody to next to appear at the same court on May 20.

Derbyshire Police said at the time: "Two people have been charged in connection with the death of a baby in Chesterfield.

"Paramedics were called to a house in Old Whittington in the early hours of Christmas Day 2020, to reports that a ten-month-old boy was unresponsive.

"The baby, Finley Boden, was taken to hospital but was sadly pronounced dead.

"Our thoughts remain with Finlay’s family at this very distressing time."
