RISHI Sunak said he wants more kids to play chess during a visit to a school in Washington DC.

The PM visited a school where pupils 3D print their own sets.

Mr Sunak also watched a drone being flown, planted jalapeño seeds and helped with a science experiment.

While looking over a custom made chess set he admitted more British kids should take up the game.

The said: “You know, I'm actually doing a little bit of work now on how we can get more people in the United Kingdom to play chess, because it's so good for you.

“It's a great skill and it's really good for helping you think and it's a great hobby.”

Earlier this year Downing Street announced that all school kids will have to study maths until the age of 18.

Mr Sunak is in Washington DC for talks at the Whitehouse with President Biden.

The pair – who have already met three times since the PM got to No10 – are set to discuss a new economic alliance, global regulation of AI, and the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Yesterday Mr Sunak laid a wreath at the at the Arlington National Cemetery's tomb of the unknown soldier.

The national anthems of both the US and UK were played by a military band.

Mr Sunak also attended a Major League Baseball game.

The Washington Nationals take on the Arizona Diamondbacks as part of US-UK Friendship Day, celebrating relations between the two countries.
