A Place In The Sun presenter Laura Hamilton, 38, has set the record straight on why she has decided it’s finally time to sell her coffee shop, Lord Roberts on the Green. Speaking to Express.co.uk, the Channel 4 property expert candidly addressed her decision to move on, while hinting at exciting new projects in the works.
It’s what I do

Laura bought the dilapidated building four years ago and worked hard to renovate it into a commercial building.
However, the A Place In The Sun presenter has now decided to put the property on the market.
The TV host said that her love for turning around properties is what inspired her to start her business.
She explained: “Property was always something I had as a backup and then it just naturally became something that I love and I’ve now done a commercial place – the coffee shop.”
The star went on to say that she came to the decision to sell as it’s what she’s done with all her other property investments.
Laura said: “The reason why we’re selling the shop is because everything that I’ve done [with property] since I was 19 is buying and selling.”
The property expert also revealed that it’s best to sell a property with “a little bit of potential for the buyer to make it their own”.
“If there’s an opportunity to put a loft extension in, they can further add value,” she continued.
However, the popular Purley-based coffee shop wasn’t the only property to come out of the renovation, as the fitness influencer also created two residential properties.
She explained: “In many ways what I’ve done with Lord Roberts is I bought a dilapidated building, did a commercial renovation and residential renovation as we created a flat above the shop and a semi-detached house.
“Then renovated it all, sold off the residential then obviously built the business, built the brand, and now we’ve come through the pandemic to the other side and actually, it’s sort of been more successful this side of the pandemic really.”
Laura admitted that despite the property being in “great shape,” it has “potential for the business to grow even further”.
“Whether that’s turning it into more of an evening restaurant a couple of days of the week – there’s just so much potential that the business has and I don’t have the time to do that with it.”
Laura has recently been hinting at a new project on her Instagram page, Venture VT, which delivers “lessons in Lifestyle & Business”.
The star went on to cite her other passions, such as her TV work, as being reasons for the decision to sell.
However, despite it being a purely business-based decision, Laura admitted that it was bittersweet to leave the business behind after four years.
“Obviously there’s a part of me that’s sad, as the staff that work here make it what it is, it really is a family here rather than just staff that work for a coffee shop.
“So I’m more sad about that more than anything else, but it’s what I do.”
In early March, Laura took to Instagram to reveal that she was selling her coffee shop.
“Whilst it’s now time to pass the reins over to someone else, I’m excited that I’m going to be helping lots of other people get into business & property!” she wrote.
A new series of A Place In The Sun starts this month with 30 brand new episodes on Channel 4, weekdays at 3pm.
