Laura Hamilton has been wiping her husband Alex Goward from her social media accounts after announcing at the weekend that the pair had decided to call it quits. The A Place In the Sun presenter released a public statement on Saturday in which she shared that her relationship with Alex had come to an end.

Laura, 39, was married to insurance broker Alex for approximately a decade and the pair share two children.

After fans noticed that the presenter was removing photos of Alex from her Instagram and Facebook pages, some speculation began over whether their split was as amicable as they had claimed.

However, a friend of Laura has reportedly explained that this was simply due to “security and safety” reasons, and also cleared up any doubt over whether a third party had been involved in their decision to separate.

According to MailOnline, the friend said: “Laura and Alex will continue to co-parent their two children and go on family holidays.

“The split was amicable and nobody else was involved.

“It’s true she’s deleted pictures of Alex but it was due to security and safety concerns, and this process started before they announced their split.”

On Saturday, Laura shared her sad news via Instagram with a picture of a framed quote that read: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

In the caption below, she addressed the situation in view of her 144,000 followers.

She wrote: “This isn’t something I ever thought I’d be saying but, after 13 years of being together Alex and I have separated.

“Our children are and always will be our number one priority and we would respect privacy for our family at this time.”

Two days before, Laura had posted a video slideshow of her family home and its transformation following a long renovation process.

In the accompanying caption, she revealed that her family were leaving their house after many years.

Laura shared: “I wish I could say I look like this photo right now but I don’t because, since the start of the new year we have been packing up our home ready to move…

“Today we close the door and say goodbye to a home that we have loved and enjoyed for the last 9 years -the longest I have lived anywhere in my entire adult life!

“It was a home that we transformed (as you can see in the photos), but MORE importantly it was a home where we created some incredible memories that we will cherish forever…”

Hinting at a big change in her life, Laura added that she was determined not to let “fear stop her from growing”.

“Change can be scary, but you know what is scarier?” she asked.

“Allowing fear to stop you from growing, evolving and progressing.

“When it feels scary to jump that’s exactly when you jump, otherwise you just end up staying in the same place your whole life, and that I can’t do…”

Laura and Alex are parents to son Rocco, eight, and daughter Tahlia, six.
