A$AP Rocky reveals unlikely show that helped him prepare for fatherhood with Rihanna

A$AP Rocky has spoken out on fatherhood for the first time since his girlfriend Rihanna gave birth to their baby in mid-May.

The 33 year old, who recently appeared to marry his other half in a new music video, explained that diversity and versatility will be "embedded in the household" as he and Riri, 34, navigate parenthood together.

"I will always remind my children to never lose their imagination, even as adults, no matter what," the rapper explained to Dazed, adding that kids programmes have helped prepare him to take on the role he's in today.

He continued: "I actually love to watch cartoons – I’ve watched like, Teletubbies, Blue’s Clues, Yo Gabba Gabba, Peppa Pig and Baby Shark.

"I hope to raise open-minded children. Not people who discriminate. And I’m not trying to describe a saint, but realistically, I just want a cool child with cool parents."

A$AP Rocky said it's "beautiful" that he and Rihanna have been able to inspire generations of children across the globe as he added: "Things like diversity and versatility are important, and they’ll be embedded in the household."

Speaking about the Diamonds hitmaker, who he frequently calls "my lady", he explained that things are "just natural" between them.

He continued: "We happen to look good together naturally. You know, it would take a lot of work to have us forcefully match before we leave the house.

"Sometimes we match to a T, or we just wear the same clothes. If I buy a shirt that she likes, I expect to get it stolen… but then I gotta steal it back."

According to TMZ, Rihanna gave birth to a baby boy as the publication claimed: "According to official records, he was born on May 13 in Los Angeles – but we don't yet know his name."

The couple announced they were expecting their first child in January after the singer was snapped showing off her baby bump in New York.

In May last year, Rihanna's boyfriend was quizzed about if he would ever like to be a father, and said starting a family is "in my destiny, absolutely".

Rapper A$AP added to GQ magazine: "I think I'd be an incredible, remarkably overall amazing dad. I would have a very fly child. Very."

Meanwhile, Rihanna had previously opened up on her hopes to have three or four children in an interview with British Vogue, before confirming her romance with A$AP, and said she’d be open to raising a child alone if she didn’t meet the right person.

The singer explained: "I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives. But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love."
