Aaron Carter’s ex-girlfriend Melanie Martin was unable to contain her grief after news broke that the singer-turned-rapper had died.
The 34 year old was found by police at his Californian home with his representatives confirming the news in a later statement.
The statement read: “Right now it's a really bad time, we're trying to figure out what happened and what the cause of it was.
"We're just as upset as everyone and hope that fans can give thoughts and prayers to his family."
Following the shock news, his former partner, Melanie, who is also the mother of his child Prince, posted a two-second clip of herself crying on TikTok.
The social media video showed Melanie overcome with grief and appeared to be recorded whilst she was driving.
Aaron had only become a father in November 2021 but he and Melanie split just two days after welcoming their son into the world.
Melanie's fans rushed to console the 30 year old.
One fan said: “He’s at peace now. He gave you the best gift to remember him by. Live for Aaron and prince. I know you’re hurting please drive safe.”
Another said: “I am so so sorry. Please remember you have the biggest part of him then anyone does and that is Prince.”
A third wrote: “Baby girl you did everything you could. Don't let this break you. just make sure prince has you and make good memories of his dad. you got this.”
Aaron came to fame in the late 1990's after he was launched into the spotlight for being the brother of Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter.
He first performed at the age of seven and later released his first self-titled debut album in 1997 at age nine, selling a million copies worldwide.
In the 2000's he quickly established himself as a star among pre-teens and teenagers and was supported by Britney Spears on tour.
He later released his self-titled album Aaron Carter, which reached gold status. He then went on to release Aaron's Party (Come and Get It) in 2000 and that went triple platinum.
Fans were left devastated over the news as they took to Twitter to pay tribute to the singer.
One person said: "So sad, RIP Aaron Carter- praying for his family & friends."
A different account put: "This is so sad RIP Aaron Carter."
Another follower wrote: "Hearing about Aaron Carter is so sad and surreal."
While a different fan added: "Horrible news about Aaron Carter. Just so sad."
