Adam Henson, 54, has said he is open to “advice” from viewers of Countryfile after receiving “vicious” feedback from some, particularly in recent times from a small proportion of vegans on social media. The Cotswold Farm Park proprietor revealed he has been subject to some “totally inappropriate” language from those opposing meat production, that he has discussed on the popular BBC programme.

I do sometimes get vicious feedback

Opening up on how viewers react to Countryfile, Adam told Express.co.uk: “I’m really open to advice, as long as it’s constructive.

“We don’t always get it right on the programme, there could be other elements we could be showing or talking about. Or a different way of explaining things, or slightly different techniques.

“So that’s all fine by me. When I do sometimes get vicious feedback, people being rude and mean, and nasty about me or the way we farm.

“Particularly recently, some quite nasty social media lashing out from vegans, talking about meat productions,” he added.

The TV farmer believes trolls find it easier to say mean remarks online, as they can “hide behind their screens”.

He continued: “They are hiding behind their screens, being really quite vicious towards me.

“Making all sorts of assumptions and using language that is totally inappropriate. I find that, not hurtful, but really frustrating.

“Surely we need to have a sensible, adult conversation. I’m quite prepared to change my views, but I’m not going to do it if people are vicious,” he stated.

Adam also shared that his partner Charlotte and daughter Ella, 23, are both vegetarians.

He detailed: “You know my daughter’s vegetarian, my wife’s vegetarian. My son and I eat meat.

“We have adult grown-up conversations about stuff and that’s how it’s supposed to be.”

In a previous segment on Countryfile, Adam’s co-star Ellie Harrison was seen in floods of tears as she looked on while he tried to desperately fight to save the life of a newborn lamb on the show.

The Cotswolds farmer revealed how the “pressure was on” to save the animal’s life.

Adam revealed: “She did get quite emotional, as the pressure was on her to make sure it stayed alive while I was lambing the second one.

“As a farmer, although I have seen thousands of lambs born, that doesn’t come without emotion.

“Though I feel the pressure and tension, as well. It kind of showed her and the viewer what farmers go through all day and all night when you’re lambing,” he added.

The seasoned farmer said the viral scene showed the public how stressful delivering animals can be.

He continued: “We’re in there to do our best by the animals, to keep them fit and healthy.

“So yeah it is great they [Countryfile] showed that on the programme, there’s a lot of feedback on that sort of moment.”

In the traumatic scenes aired on BBC, the animal appeared to be breathing at first, but it was touch and go.

Ellie could be seen quivering, as she struggled to hold back her tears while looking on.
