Adam Peaty, 26, and Katya Jones, 32, will perform their second dance of the series this weekend, but the dancer has suffered a hair-related injury following the “lump” she was left with last week. During rehearsals this morning, the swimmer yanked out a chunk of her hair in a press up gone wrong.

The Strictly Come Dancing pro shared the moment with her 185,000 Instagram followers, with a story that featured a rather sheepish-looking Adam trying to suppress a grin.

“Do you want to tell them what you’ve done?” Katya asked.

The Olympian, who has 561,000 Instagram followers of his own, explained: “Yes, so there’s a very delicate part of the move – the dance, sorry.

“It’s like a press up and clap.

“She goes under, I do a press up over…

“But I said to her on Thursday, ‘Tie your hair up because I’m going to land on you,’ and look…”

Katya then held up a lock of her own hair, at which point a bemused Adam felt the need to defend himself.

“It’s not even that much, man. That will grow back within a week,” he said.

Katya insisted that it was a lot of hair with a small eye roll, but seemed to see the funny side.

Last week, the professional dancer’s tresses were also giving her grief after the elaborate style that she wore for the pair’s fiery Cha Cha left her with a “lump” on her head.

The chic bubble braid Katya sported on Saturday night was held together by several pins, making for a tight, sleek finish and the star admitted the pain was “worth it”.

The duo’s captivating routine set to Beggin’ by Måneskin wowed the judges and earned them a combined score of 30, which means they are currently tied for second place on the leaderboard.

John Whaite and Johannes Radebe gave a commanding and passionate performance as the first same-sex male couple on the show and received an identical score of 30.

Both pairs received sevens from judges Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse, while Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke awarded them with more generous eights.

In the lead with 34 points from Saturday night are TV presenter AJ Odudu and newbie professional dancer Kai Widdrington, after they stunned the judges with their highly-energetic Jive to Gold Dust by DJ Fresh.

Next week, the Strictly couples will dance again, and their scores will be added to the ones they received last Saturday night.

Down at the bottom of the leaderboard are Dragon’s Den big shot Sara Davies, 37, and her partner Aljaz Skorjanec, 31, with 17 points.

Rugby player Ugo Monye, 38, and consecutive Strictly champion Oti Mabuse, 31, are just one point ahead with 18, which means it’s still all to play for.

In her story Katya wrote: “Everything you see on Saturday is a product of pure hard work.

“That’s why it’s so rewarding to receive positive comments from the judges.”
