In January this year, Adele wept as she announced on Instagram she was postponing her upcoming Las Vegas residency. Adele told how she had not slept for 30 hours as she and her team unsuccessfully tried to “make it work” as she took to social media to share the sad news with her 50 million followers.

She broke down as she told her fans: “Listen, I’m so sorry, but my show [isn’t] ready we’ve tried absolutely everything we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you.

“But we’ve been absolutely destroyed by Covid… and it’s been impossible to finish the show…

“I’m gutted and I’m sorry it’s so last minute… I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed.”

The announcement of her postponing the “Weekends With Adele” came just 24 hours before fans were due to flock to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Hotel to watch her perform.

But the 34-year-old was criticised when she revealed the following month she would be performing at the Brits.

She posted a Tweet which read: “Hiya, so I’m really happy to say that I am performing at the Brits next week!!

“Anddddd I’ll also be popping in to see Graham for a chat on the couch while I’m in town too! I’m looking forward to it…”

Piers Morgan tweeted in response: “It’s a miracle!! (Bet the fans who paid all that money to go to Vegas are especially thrilled.)”

Tickets for her upcoming shows – which begin in November and go on until March next year – vary in price, with some on the website, Vivid Seats, costing more than $2,000 [£1,654].

However, some are even selling tickets for $40,000 [£33,066].

Adele has now said her decision to postpone the concerts was the “worst moment” of her career in an interview with Elle magazine.

The Someone Like You singer said: “It was the worst moment in my career, by far. By far. I was so excited about those shows. It was devastating.

“There was just no soul in it. The stage set-up wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.

“The first couple of months were really, really hard. But it actually made my self-confidence grow, because it was a very brave thing to do.

“And I don’t think many people would have done what I did. I’m very proud of myself for standing by my artistic needs.”

Adele has now added eight more shows to her 24-concert line-up.

It has been reported that the Easy On Me singer will be Las Vegas’ highest-paid female star, taking home £500,000 per show.

Adele’s most recent album, 30, was the best-selling album of last year.

Earlier this year, she made a return to the stage after a five-year hiatus, performing at BST Hyde Park Festival in July.
