AJ Pritchard has revealed the loving dedication he shows to helping Abbie Quinnen treat her burns by spending hours every day working to stop her skin from scarring.
The former Strictly Come Dancing pro was recording a video for their social media followers with girlfriend Abbie earlier in the year when a wine bottle hack went horribly wrong and she suffered horrific burns.
Since then, Abbie has had surgery, laser treatments and wears silicone dressings and pressure garments around the clock to try to reduce the scars she could be left with.
On Thursday's This Morning, AJ and his brother Curtis Pritchard gave an update on Abbie's condition and spoke about the hours AJ spends each day tending to his girlfriend's injuries.
As he explained that they did scar massage together four times a day, Curtis said: "You have a full 24-hour routine, don't you, that you do with each other every single day."
Nodding, AJ explained: "Each morning and night we go through rubbing the skin just to stop any scars forming. It's a long process and obviously physically and mentally are sides that we take very seriously as well."
But he added: "She's doing well."
The brothers told how they had enjoyed a theatre visit with Abbie, the first time she had managed a trip out in public without any of her dressings.
Proud AJ said: "She's doing really well, last night was an absolutely massive milestone, she went and didn't wear her silicone sheets and pressure garments.
"She's been wearing that for six months 24 hours a day."
Since Abbie's accident, the couple have spoken about how traumatic it was and the care AJ has shown for her after it happened.
Abbie has shared how she will be unable to expose her skin to the sun for two years because of her third degree burns, while AJ has called her "inspirational" for the way she has coped with her injuries.
Curtis and AJ also spoke about their recent star turn in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks, with Curtis admitting he has been bitten by the acting bug and is hoping to sign up to more projects in the future.
Asked whether he wanted to do more acting, the dancer and Love Island star said: "100%. I fell in love with it. Absolutely fell in love with it so I would like to act again in the future."
