The Masked Singer: Alan Carr guesses who Robin is
Alan Carr, 44, has revealed the real reason behind turning down BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing every year is because he doesn’t want to be a “joke” out on the dance floor. The comedian insisted he wants to look “sexy” doing powerful routines like the Argentine tango, but he has concerns he wouldn’t be treated as a “serious artiste” if he did give in and take the plunge.

In a recent interview, the 44-year-old spoke about how lockdown was treating him, mentioning his favourite show was Botched, which has encouraged him not to get plastic surgery.
But moving onto shows closer to home, he admitted he enjoyed last year’s socially distanced version of Strictly more than previous series.
“I enjoyed Strictly even more than usual,” he said.
“I’m a big fan of Bill Bailey anyway, and I was like, ‘He’s funny and talented.'”

Bill won the 2020 series alongside two-time winner Oti Mabuse, who won I 2019 with Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher.
But it doesn’t look like we’ll see Carr on the ballroom floor anytime soon.
He carried on: “They always ask me to do Strictly and I say no because I want to be sexy doing the Argentine tango,” he giggled.
“I don’t want to be a joke.”
But after watching 56-year-old Bill take the plunge and walk away victorious, the funnyman weighed up the perks of appearing on the contest.
“Well, you lose weight, doing it,” he told Radio Times.
“I want to be treated as a serious artiste if I do.
“There’d be no mucking about. I’d be hot to trot, like Fred Astaire.”

But weight seems to be the last thing on everyone’s minds at the moment as the evenings are still dark and cold and all you want to do is curl up with a hot chocolate and some snacks, and Carr admitted he’s past caring about the whole debacle.
“I’ve put on weight,” he laughed.
“We’ve been having three-course meals every night because we’re so bored.
“But I’m at that age where I’m past caring!”
But like us all, he’s at the stage where he can’t wait to get back to normal life.

Kicking back on the sofa may have been fun way back at the start of the first lockdown, and now we’re all well and truly fed up of it.
Carr expressed his keenness to get back on stage, after Covid forced him to postpone his gigs twice.
“My tour’s been postponed twice and I flirted with the idea of doing online shows, but was told people heckle you in the comments section,” he shrugged.
“It’s bad enough having people shout abuse, let alone having to read it on the screen.”
