Alex Jones has opened up about why she dumped ex-boyfriend Steve Jones, claiming he stole an interview opportunity with Angelina Jolie from her.
The One Show host Alex, 46, discussed her past romance with former co-star Steve, also 46, on a new episode of the Dish podcast, hosted by Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett.
She shared stories from her personal life and career, recalling how she was scheduled to interview Hollywood actress Angelina, 47, while working as an entertainment correspondent on Channel 4 show Rise.
However she claims that fellow presenter Steve, who she was in a relationship with at the time, then stole the interview from her.
Alex recalled: "Normally they would call in the morning and ask to come and do an interview or a junket.
"I was staying in his flat at the time when I was working in London and he picked up the landline and said 'Al's not here. She's not feeling well, she's had to go back to Cardiff', I was in Topshop."
She then claimed: "So he did the interview."
OK! has contacted representatives for Steve Jones.
In 2003, Steve bagged himself a new presenting job on weekend shot T4 following his interview with Angelina and he later revealed he and Alex had called time on their romance.
Alex and Steve dated from 1999 until 2002 and remained close friends despite their break-up, going on to host Let's Dance For Comic Relief together.
Alex, who is now married to insurance broker Charlie Thomson, has previously told the story about the interview, but never named Steve as the culprit.
Speaking on the podcast Thanks A Million with Angela Scanlon, Alex previously explained: "And so I got back to the flat and was like, where is he? Hours went past, nobody answering their phones and in the end thought, right I'm going to drive back to Cardiff, because I don't know where you are, you've probably gone to the pub."
She continued: "And then the production company called, and they were like, we've got bit of a situation. Tomorrow morning your boyfriend is going to the premiere with Angelina Jolie and it it would be really funny if you came on the line, live on the show and surprise him and said that you know exactly what he's been up to."
The TV presenter added: "So again, I said yes, so on live telly I'm like, 'you lied to me, where have you been?' So yeah, not surprisingly, we split up live on telly!'"
