This Morning presenter Alison Hammond has candidly opened up about replacing longtime presenting couple Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes on the popular ITV show on Friday mornings. In a new interview, the 47-year-old revealed how she felt ahead of presenting the show without her co-host Dermot O’Leary, admitting that she’d “dread” fronting the ITV programme solo.
The thought of doing that show on my own would fill my heart with dread

Alison and her This Morning co-host Dermot have become firm favourites having replaced Ruth and Eamonn on Friday mornings.
However, the showbiz reporter confessed that she felt nervous at the idea of co-hosting the show with Dermot.
Admitting that she felt “star-struck” by the BBC Radio 2 star, Alison spoke of her pre-show nerves.
She said: “At first I was a bit star-struck by Dermot, I thought, ‘Oh my God, how am I going to work with him? He’s up there!’ Then I realised pretty soon he’s actually not up there.”
Alison added that she was “surprised” at his “naughty” side, joking that he “loves” a bit of gossip.
She continued: “There’s a sweet competitiveness about us, a cheekiness too, like when you do stuff you’re not supposed to do.”
The star admitted that she was “surprised” over how quickly she and Dermot have bonded, as they’ve only ever presented solo.
Alison said: “I thought it was going to be hard because we’re both used to working on our own.
However, she told how presenting the show single-handedly isn’t something she’d want to do.
“But now, the thought of doing that show on my own would fill my heart with dread,” Alison admitted.
The ITV host also reflected on taking over Eamonn and Ruth’s slot on the daytime show.
“I look forward to our Fridays and I want to be sitting next to my Dermot,” she added to Daily Mail’s Weekend Magazine.
Alison and Dermot are set to fill in for This Morning regulars Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield everyday next week.
The duo will be absent from the ITV show over the half-term break.
Last week, Alison bid farewell in an emotional Instagram post to her This Morning colleague.
The star told producer Sam Palmano that he was “so loved” as he prepared for the next chapter of his career.
She posted a video montage from a fun work night out in front of her one million Instagram followers yesterday.
The clips featured her colleagues dropping down low on the dance floor with drinks in hand to Beyonce’s Partition.
Alison captioned the post: “Farewell to @sampalmano, one of our producers who works on @thismorning.
“You are so loved and will be missed by the team!! Farewell but please stay in touch.”
This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
