A Texas grand jury has indicted Patrick Xavier Clark, the man accused of shooting rapper Takeoff, on murder charges.
Several agencies have reported that the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has confirmed that Clark was formally charged with murder on May 25.
Takeoff, who was part of the trio Migos alongside Quavo and Offset, died on November 1, 2022 after he was shot at a bowling alley in Houston.
Police said there was an altercation happening in front of the building that Takeoff was not involved in, but he got caught in the crossfire. An autopsy revealed the rapper died from two gunshot wounds — one to the head and one to the torso.
Police arrested Clark based on reviewed video evidence of the shooting outside the bowling alley that showed he was the only person whose physical positioning aligned with the angle at which Takeoff was struck before collapsing to the ground. A wine bottle found at the crime scene later had Clark’s fingerprints.
Clark was released on a $1 million bond in January. An attorney representing Clark told KHOU that the indictment was not unexpected due to a “minimal standard of proof.”
