Amber Gill praised by pal Anna Vakili after sexuality comment: ‘I’m glad she said it’

Anna Vakili has praised her Love Island pal Amber Gill for recent comments about her sexuality, after the star said she had “switched teams”.

Amber casually made the comment while tweeting about this year’s action-packed series of the ITV2 show, telling fans she “couldn’t be with a man again”.

While Amber, 24, has decided against labelling her sexuality, fans soon praised the Love Island 2019 for her comments.

And speaking exclusive to OK! at the TRIC Awards on Wednesday, Anna commended her friend and revealed she’s been “much happier” lately.

Addressing Amber’s tweets, Anna, 31, told us: “I’m glad that she did that.”

“I just wanted her to say it in her own time,” she continued. “But I’m glad she’s been open about it.”

When asked if Amber has seemed happier lately, Anna replied: “Oh yes, 100%.”

Anna has remained friends with a number of her fellow Islanders, and revealed she’s still in regular contact with Amber, Amy Hart, Yewande Biala and Francesca Allen.

Sharing her advice for this year’s Islanders – who will soon take part in the dreaded post-Casa Amor recoupling – Anna said: “I don’t think there is any way of mentally preparing for [the show].

She continued: “Just be aware that when you first come out, it’s very overwhelming but it won’t always be like that. Things will settle down. And ignore and don’t look at hate comments.

"When I first got out of the villa, I was reading all the horrible things about me and I wish i’d avoided it.”

Anna was unsuccessful in her bid to find love in the villa, but also revealed things are looking up when it comes to romance, as she’s now in a relationship – having reunited with a recent ex.

“It’s been about a month now,” she said. “Hopefully it works out. If it does, by the end of the summer, I’ll make it public with him.”

Anna’s series of Love Island was jam-packed with drama, including her infamous clash with Jordan Hames, but this year’s contestants are giving the 2019 gang a run for their money.

Sparks have flown during Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu’s on-off romance with Davide Sanclimenti and Casa Amor has seen a whole host of Islanders consider leaving their partners, with many of the lads snogging new girls.

Tonight’s episode will see the recoupling begin and it looks as though Andrew Le Page and Dami Hope could be among the boys to ditch their current partners for a new arrival.
