Amber Heard ’s lawyer has spoken out about the damages the actress has been ordered to pay Johnny Depp, and said her client can “absolutely not” afford the $10 million.
Yesterday, Wednesday 1 June, the jury ruled in Johnny’s favour after just 13 hours of deliberation.
The Murder on the Orient Express actor went on to be awarded $15million in damages – $10m (£8m) in compensatory damages and $5m in punitive damages.
Meanwhile, the jury ruled actress Amber's defamation claims against Johnny Depp were unproven.
Following the explosive six-week trial, Amber’s lawyer Elaine Charlson Bredehoft featured on NBC’s Today to discuss the result, where she was asked about the money Amber now owes her ex-husband.

The show’s presenter asked: “Is [Amber] able to pay a $10.4 million judgement?”
Elaine replied: “Oh no. Absolutely not.”
Elaine also insisted that the jury was “influenced” by social media.
“They went home every night. They have families. The families are on social media," she told NBC.
"We had a 10-day break in the middle because of the judicial conference. There's no way they couldn't have been influenced by it.”
Speaking after the verdict, Amber described herself as being “heartbroken” with the result.
Amber released a statement which read: “The disappointment I feel today is beyond words. I'm heartbroken that the mountain of evidence still was not enough to stand up to the disproportionate power, influence, and sway of my ex-husband.
"I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the idea that violence against women is to be taken seriously."
Amber continued: "I believe Johnny’s attorneys succeeded in getting the jury to overlook the key issue of Freedom of Speech and ignore evidence that was so conclusive that we won in the UK.
"I’m sad I lost this case. But I am sadder still that I seem to have lost a right I thought I had as an American – to speak freely and openly.”
Meanwhile, Johnny credited the jury for “giving him his life back”.
He penned in a statement shared online: “Six years ago, my life, the life of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also, the lives of the people, who for many, many years have supported and believed in me were forever changed.
“False, very serious and criminal allegations were levied at me via the media, which triggered an endless barrage of hateful content, although no charges were ever brought against me.”
He went on: “The jury gave me my life back. I am truly humbled.”
