With just weeks left to go until Strictly Come Dancing returns to our screens, the sixth star hoping to scoop the glitter ball trophy has been revealed to be Angela Scanlon
Speaking on Radio Two, where it was announced that she would be appearing on the show, Angela said: "It's been kind of in the ether for a number of years and we've been close.
"But we wanted to have another baby so then we were trying to have a baby, and then I was then pregnant, then I had a very small child, and now it just felt right this year.
"I believe in feelings and timing and all of those sorts of things. I'm not particularly fit and I don't know how my pelvic floor is going to react to that level of jumping"
Sharing the announcement, she quipped: "I’m terrified, I’m excited and I have so many questions. Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?!
"Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well – there’s only one way to find out, right!? Now I’m panicking a bit… but also secretly thrilled about the prospect of all that glitter. Let’s go!"
Angela is an Irish Television presenter for the BBC and RTÉ. She hosts the hugely-successful interior design show Your Home Made Perfect on BBC Two and is the only woman in the UK and Ireland to have their own Saturday night chat show with Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One.
Last year, Angela published her first book Joyrider, part empowering guide and part memoir, all about the importance of bringing gratitude into everyday life. Starting off as a stylist, she worked in fashion TV in Ireland, before beginning her UK career as the new presenter of Robot Wars along with documentaries for the BBC.
She will be joining Eddie Kadi, Amanda Abbington, Angela Rippon, Layton Williams, and Channel 4 News anchor Krishnan Guru-Murthy.
The upcoming series of the popular BBC show is set to see 15 of our favourite stars partnered up with a dance professional as they hope to samba, foxtrot and waltz their way to being crowned Strictly champ.
Back in April, the BBC announced that current reigning champion Jowita Przystal, who last year lifted the glitterball trophy with wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin, is returning to the show along with 2022’s runner-ups Gorka Marquez, Carlos Gu and Vito Coppola.
Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Graziano Di Prima, Karen Hauer, Katya Jones, Neil Jones and Nikita Kuzmin were also confirmed to be among the professionals in the line-up.
Those taking to the dancefloor also include Luba Mushtuk, Giovanni Pernice, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Nancy Xu, Lauren Oakley and Michelle Tsiakkas.
