BBC Breakfast: Sally Nugent jokes about topless car ride
Sally Nugent returned to Instagram over the weekend as the journalist shared a candid photo of herself being dolled up.
The BBC Breakfast presenter took to her stories and uploaded a snap wearing a sequin top and jeans as she had the finishing touches to her make-up applied.
She beamed at the camera as the sun shone in the background for the snaps.
It was her first post since it was reported the 51-year-old and her husband had separated after 13 years of marriage, according to reports which circulated earlier this month.
The broadcaster is said to be “devastated” as Gavin is believed to have moved out of the family home.
A source told the Daily Mail: “It’s very sad but they are no longer together.
“I think they tried to tough it out for quite a while as they didn’t want to split up if they could possibly help it for the sake of their son but they clearly couldn’t make a go of it.
“They’ve both been very guarded about the reasons behind their growing apart but it’s been plain for a while that they had been and now it’s obvious that they haven’t been able to resolve that despite clearly trying for some time.”
Little is known about Sally’s husband and her BBC Breakfast website simply says: “Sally is married with one child – a football and rugby mad boy.”

She did give a rare insight into their wedding day back in 2021 with a framed photograph spotted in the background of one of her Instagram posts.
In another rare admission back in 2018, Sally revealed Gavin’s sweet gesture following the birth of their son.
Sally told the Express S Magazine: “When I had our son, my husband bought me a ‘blue for a boy’ vintage aquamarine ring from an antique jeweller in Richmond, London.”
In 2022, she also opened up about her routine at home while getting ready for her early BBC shifts.
Speaking to The Sunday Times, she said: “My alarm goes off at 3.45am. I don’t have a loud, scary one that gives you a coronary.
She added: “I don’t wake my husband or son. I’m a tiptoer. I have years of experience.”
Sally became a main presenter for BBC Breakfast following the departure of Louise Minchin in 2021 – fronting the news programme alongside Jon Kay from Monday to Wednesday.
BBC Breakfast airs daily on BBC One at 6am.
