BBC’s All That Glitters hosted by Katherine Ryan axed after just two series

BBC show All That Glitters has not been renewed for a third series, it has been revealed.

The TV show, hosted by comedian Katherine Ryan, 39, launched in 2021 with the first series averaging 2.3 million viewers across all six episodes. The second series of the show then followed in October 2022.

All That Glitters featured aspiring jewellers who competed against one another to prove they were the next big thing in the jewellery industry.

Contestants were tasked with having to design and create jewellery to brief in each episode, including a bespoke item for a client and a mass market piece.

It was revealed on Friday that All That Glitters will not be returning with a third series. The BBC confirmed the news to the Mirror.

The last episode of the TV show, also the second series' final, aired in October 2022, with finalists given a selection of tasks including creating the perfect necklace for Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas.

All That Glitters was filmed in a specially built workshop in the historic Jewellery Quarter based in Birmingham.

The first series featured jewellery designers Shaun Leane and Solange Azagury-Partridge as judges. Shaun then returned as a judge on the second series, but this time he was joined by newcomer Dinny Hall.

Whilst promoting the show, Dinny explained: "A successful jewellery designer needs to imagine then execute their ideas, hone their craftsmanship abilities as well as design ethos, and lastly know their market."

Host Katherine will no doubt be sad about the news, as she previously told how it was a "joy" to be a part of the show

"The first series was a total joy to be a part of," she said ahead of the second series in 2022, which she said she was "delighted" about.

Discussing the BBC show previously, Katherine said: "Jewellery making is so visual and satisfying to watch, but it's the jewellers themselves that make the show unmissable."

She added: "They're all so warm and different, and they all have uniquely compelling personalities and stories that they bring into their craft."

Both series of All That Glitters are available to stream via BBC iPlayer in full.
