Deborah James, 40, has taken to social media to deliver a message to fans, explaining that she hopes they had a good Christmas. The presenter commented on her absence from social media and had a small message for her followers.
The BBC broadcaster was diagnosed with Stage 4 bowel cancer in 2016.
Since then, she has changed her Instagram name to @BowelBabe.
The broadcaster frequently posts messages spreading positivity to fans in hard times.
She posted a note on her story addressed to fans wondering where she was, as the star has been absent from Instagram over the last week.
The story was posted to Deborah’s 264,000 Instagram followers.
The full message read: “Hello! Hope you have all had a good Christmas whatever it looked like!
“Or at least got through it!
“Keep getting messages kindly asking if I’m okay! I’m fine, I’m just enjoying a break from here with my family!
“Why not try and do the same!
“See you in a few days x”.
The presenter updated fans with news on her battle with cancer on December 17.
She revealed she had undergone an operation to remove a bile duct stent after developing an “aggressive” tumour near her liver over the summer.
But, while she was hopeful, things didn’t go according to plan.
Deborah said at the time that doctors had given her options.
In the latest update, though, she seemed to suggest that these options were no longer available.
“I just wanted to pop on and say thank you, guys. What a rollercoaster of a week it has been,” she said on Instagram.
“You know, I’m very happy to have hit that five-year milestone and then I found myself, I suppose, in the hospital suddenly having options whipped away from me.
“And I was thinking, ‘Oh my word.’”
The broadcaster, who is also the author of the book “F*** You Cancer, was told by authors in 2016 that she wouldn’t make it beyond five years.
Deborah added at the time that she continued going back to the hospital early Friday morning as she was determined to find “alternative options”.
