Beatrice and Eugenie ‘devastated’ as new royal roles now ‘impossible’, says expert

Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie are said to be "devastated" as an expected promotion in royal duties now appears "impossible", according to a royal expert.

Sisters Beatrice, 33, and 31 year old Eugenie are predicated to be deeply affected by the ongoing civil case against their dad Prince Andrew, a royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams.

Prince Andrew was stripped of his royal and military titles after a US judge decided the civil sexual assault case against him will not be dismissed.

Royal expert Richard, who is the former editor of The International Who's Who book series, said a planned increase in the their royal appearances could now be shelved following the removal of the Duke of York's royal and military titles.

Mr Fitzwilliams told Express.co.uk: “The Yorks are a close-knit family and this will be devastating for them.

"They only perform a very few royal duties. However, any expansion of their roles, which was a possibility as there are fewer senior royals and many of them are no longer young, is now impossible for the foreseeable future."

Sisters Eugenie and Beatrice are private citizens with their own careers, but do occasionally attend public events as members of the Royal Family.

In 2015, Eugenie became an associate director working for Hauser & Wirth art gallery, before being promoted to director in 2017.

While Princess Beatrice began her career in Selfridges as a personal shopper. But, after graduating from Goldsmiths College in 2011, she has gone on to work full time and assumed a role in 2017 as Vice President of Partnerships and Strategy at Afiniti, a software company.

Eugenie and Beatrice's mother Sarah Ferguson is expected to remain as the Duchess of York after Andrew was stripped of his HRH and military titles.

Sarah's friends have reportedly "made it clear" the 62 year old will continue to be known as Sarah, Duchess of York.

"Andrew is still the Duke of York, so it is not an issue."

While a friend of Sarah's added: "Sarah has absolutely no intention of shrinking away from the limelight. Why should she?

"She and her daughters have done nothing wrong and they believe Andrew 100 per cent that he has done nothing wrong either."

One of Sarah's associates told the Daily Mail: "That has been her title since their divorce and that is how it will stay.

The Duchess of York, who is said to be "devastated" by Prince Andrew's upcoming trial, has continued to use her title following her divorce from the Queen's son in 1996.
