Since you’re currently reading words on the internet, chances are you’re already aware that Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez recently got engaged (again). Jen expertly used the very buzzy personal moment to build brand awareness for her On the JLo newsletter, where she confirmed the engagement news and shared a video of herself and her new forever costar, the absolutely MASSIVE green engagement ring Ben proposed with this time around.
Seriously, my left arm is getting sore just looking at/briefly imagining having to carry around the ginormous rock that is J.Lo’s newest engagement ring:
Now, if you’re the kind of person who see a giant green gemstone and thinks, “hey, that must be an emerald,” no judgment because, honestly, same, but that’s not actually accurate. According to Page Six, J.Lo’s green bling is actually an 8.5 ct. natural green diamond, which makes it super rare and suuuuuuper valuable.
“If that is indeed a green diamond, then I am stunned,” Diamond Pro CEO Mike Fried told Page Six of the ring (take a second to let it soak in that a guy whose literal job title is “Diamond Pro CEO” is “stunned” by the stone Ben managed to snag). “A green diamond of that size is incredibly rare and would dwarf the value of their previous engagement ring. I would value the ring well over $5 million and could be worth more than $10 million.”
Ben didn’t just splash out on an ultra-rare natural green diamond big enough to topple women without his fiancée impressive core strength on a whim, obvi. Jen has written in previous newsletters (which Ben clearly reads every single word of) about what the color green means to her.
“I always say the color green is my lucky color,” she wrote (per Entertainment Tonight). “Maybe you can remember a certain green dress. I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.”
And now we can add one more amazing green-tinted moment to that list.
