Ben Foden, 36, was the first booted off Dancing on Ice after being in the skate off with TV presenter Ria Hebden. Ben’s wife, Jackie Belanoff-Smith has taken to Instagram to slam the ice skating show as a “popularity competition”, calling the show “unfair” and “pointless”.

What’s the point?

The rugby star and his professional partner Robin Johnstone were the first couple to be eliminated from this year’s Dancing On Ice.

They faced off against presenter Ria Hebden, 39, and her professional skating partner Łukasz Różycki last night on ITV.

Judges Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean unfortunately voted unanimously to save Ria.

Jackie took to her Instagram story to slate the show in view of her 10,200 followers.

She penned: “What’s the point of saying it’s a skate competition when it’s really just a popularity competition?

“Why divide the skaters into two weeks, groups of your choosing, and why not judge all their scores together after the two weeks?

“What’s the point of getting a bunch of people together and then not judging them together afterwards?”

Continuing to hit out at the show, she went on: “And what’s the point of having a judging panel when it’s all down to a public vote.

“That’s not a skate competition, it’s a popularity competition. What’s the point of anyone doing this really practising and trying to learn if you’re just going to be judged on your popularity?

“It’s a bit unfair, and we’re a bit sad, the worst skater wasn’t the first to go, I don’t really see the point.”

She continued: “Yes, it’s how the show makes money but maybe leave the public vote for the save me skate offs or something?

“Otherwise it’s just kind of pointless to even try.”

Jackie said she was pleased “Ria got to stay in”, having sat next to her family at the show.

However, Jackie did not stop there as she now took aim at England after her desperate plea to leave the UK.

She added: “And I’m glad we get to go home to NYC sooner!! Had my fair share of England for a while, time to get back to the real world and get our lives back.”

Jackie’s comments come just days after she joked that she was hoping Ben was voted off first so that he wouldn’t cheat on her with Rachel Stevens.

According to The Sun, in a joint interview with Ben and Rachel, Rachel was asked what was “unique” about her and why she would stand out in the competition.

Rachel insisted that all the contestants would be bringing their respective uniqueness to the rink.

Ben, however, interrupted: “That and you’re the sexiest woman in the world, Rachel.”

Jackie took to her Instagram last Thursday to tell her followers about what she thought of the situation.

She penned: “Current mood: just getting so nervous by all the comments everyone’s been making, you’ve all convinced me my husband’s gonna cheat on me!!!”
