Brian Wilson Documentary To Be Given U.K. Cinema Release In January

Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road, a new documentary on Brian Wilson, will get a theatrical release in the U.K. on January 21.

The documentary, featuring dozens of Wilson’s biggest hits, sketches the Beach Boys co-founder’s life and career through “a literal and metaphorical trip exploring Brian’s hometown.”

Wilson last month released a new song “Right Where I Belong” featuring My Morning Jacket lyricist Jim James.

The song was written by Wilson for the film’s soundtrack. Wilson revealed that he wrote the song as requested by Long Promised Road director Brent Wilson.

Brent Wilson said he directed the documentary for both the hardcore fans and the ones who want to get to know Brian on a personal level.

“Brian has had an extraordinary life and you can see how his music career has influenced so many global stars of today,” he added. “We created Brian Wilson: Long Promised Road to bridge the gap between myth and reality and we’re excited for the U.K. audience to see it in cinemas from 21st January.”

The documentary premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June and had a limited run in U.S. theaters. It was also made available for video-on-demand services in November.
