Mo Gilligan made a hilarious dig at Prime Minister Boris Johnson as he hosted the BRIT Awards on Tuesday evening.
The comedian is presenting the awards show for the first time this year, taking over from previous host of several years Jack Whitehall.
Some of the biggest names from the music world including Adele, Ed Sheeran and Anne-Marie, were all packed into London’s O2 Arena for the ceremony when Mo made a jab at the PM and his recent ‘partygate’ scandal.
Taking to the stage after a group performance from Anne-Marie, KSI and Digital Farm Animals, the presenter joked: “We all love a party. The Mad Hatter's Tea Party. Speaking of parties, Boris, I know you're watching.
"I know you love a party. Come down my guy! I know you like a cheeseboard! Look at you with your Dairyleas."
The presenter’s joke left plenty of members of the audience chuckling as the 33 year old gave a cheeky smile to the camera.
It seemed viewers at home were fans of the joke as well, with one writing on Twitter: “NOOO NOT MO GILLIGAN CALLING OUT BORIS.”
Another added: “I'm here for Mo Gilligan mugging off Boris Johnson. Fully here for it."
It was a positive moment for Mo, whose nerves might have got the better of him earlier in the ceremony when he made an announcement blunder not long after stepping on the stage for the first time.
During his introduction to the ceremony, the presenter appeared to only welcome men to the show by accidentally saying “welcome gentlemen” when welcoming the audience.
One viewer joked: "Mo what happened to ladies, you introduced gentlemen???"
Meanwhile, another asked: “Did Mo Gilligan say ‘Welcome to the Brits gentlemen’?”
It wasn’t the last mistake to happen during the ceremony, after Anne-Marie fell over during her performance just before Mo’s Boris joke.
The singer, 30, lost her footing as she walked down the stairs during the very start of her live performance to hit Kiss My (Uh Oh).
However, fans praised the singer for smoothing over the incident and carrying on the performance, calling her a “trooper”.
One person said: "Well @AnneMarie handled that like the true pro that she is. And she looked stunning. #BRITs."
A different account put: "Not Anne Marie falling at the #brits and continuing like the queen she is."
Another follower wrote: "Anne-Marie an absolute trooper for carrying on. I would have sat and cried #BRITs."
While Anne-Marie herself took to Twitter to poke fun at the stage moment as she tweeted: "Didn’t need my left ankle anyway."
