Brooklyn Beckham mocked for cooking video after using whole bottle of $25 oil

Brooklyn Beckham has once again sparked criticism from his followers with another out of touch cooking video shared on his Instagram on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old aspiring chef promoted a partnership with Chosen Foods avocado oil, which is priced between $15 and $20, on his socials. In his video intro, Brooklyn informed his fans that he would be preparing fried chicken by shallow frying it using the brand's "100 percent avocado" oil.

Brooklyn captioned the video: “Fried chicken with @chosenfoods . 100% Pure Avocado Oil and their Classic Avocado Oil Mayo are the best. I love Chosen Foods for frying because of its high smoke point and neutral flavor. #chosenpartner.”

In the video, Brooklyn is seen coating chicken breasts in a milk mixture before rolling them in a blend of spices and flour and then frying them in a hot pan filled with an entire bottle of the avocado oil.

While a number of fan’s complimented the food, others took issue with just how much of the expensive product – which retails for $24.99 – he used for the recipe. One person commented: “Why on earth are you deep frying in oil that costs $15/20 per bottle? I realise this is paid promo but something a bit more logical like make a mayo from scratch with it, rather than dump that much into a pan to fry some chicken! Cozzie lives Brookie babes x.”

Another person noted: “That's at least $25 worth of avocado oil!”

A third added: “That is A LOT of oil.”

“Wow all those ingredients for two pieces of chicken!!!” wrote another social media user.

This isn't the first time that he has been called out for using expensive ingredients, using both truffle and a £60 rib of beef in other recipes.

Brooklyn, who has no professional culinary training, was previously slammed for claiming his new career as a “chef” paid for his $1.2 million luxury sports car in a viral TikTok.

In a TikTok posted last year by Daniel Mac, who films himself asking random drivers of pricey vehicles how they pay for them, he asks the oldest son of multimillionaires David and Victoria Beckham : “Hey, man! What do you do for a living? Your car’s awesome!”

Brooklyn replied: “Um, I’m a chef,” the smiling 23-year-old replied after realising he recognised the influencer.

The TikToker then asked: “You’re a chef! Really? Are you like the best chef in the world?”, prompting Brooklyn to respond, “Tryna be!”

Becoming a “chef” is Brooklyn’s third career switch after previously trying his hand at following in his father’s footballing footsteps before taking up photography. He was accepted to study photography at the Parsons School in New York, however, he dropped out after less than a year after feeling homesick.
