Camilla’s ‘seven-word plea to King Charles after nearly losing hat’

Queen Consort Camilla made a seven-word plea toKing Charles after her hat nearly blew away in windy conditions, according to a lip reader.

The 75 year oldroyal – andKate Middleton – were both forced to hang on to their headwear in the gusty weather as they arrived at Westminster Abbey for theCommonwealth Day Service on Monday afternoon.

Once they had sought refuge inside the royal church, senior members of The Firm – includingPrince William, Princess Kate and thenew Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, Edward and Sophie – gathered for a chat ahead of taking their seats.

And according to a lip reader who analysed footage of the royals talking, all were eager to discuss the blustery conditions.

Expert lip reader Jeremy Freeman told theMirror that William, 40, appeared to ask Camilla: "Did your hat almost blow away?"

TheQueen Consort and Princess of Wales, 41, laughed at this – with Jeremy saying that Princess Kate added: "Mine almost came off too."

After this, Camilla spoke further to the couple, with William appearing to reply, "perfection".

Then Charles tapped Camilla on the arm, gesturing for her to move into place for the start of the procession to their seats.

According to Jeremy, Camilla told the King: "Kate almost lost her hat."

The lip reader believes Charles said to his wife "oh it's merry hell" before Camilla declared: "I could use a drink after this."

Monday’s Commonwealth Day Service was the first with King Charles as monarch, and it saw him deliver a message marking the occasion from the Great Pulpit in Westminster Abbey, where his officialCoronation will take place in two months' time.

The theme for this year's Commonwealth Day was ‘Forging a Sustainable and Peaceful Common Future’.

Using the theme as inspiration, King Charles told the congregation: “Whether on climate change and biodiversity loss, youth opportunity and education, global health or economic co-operation, the Commonwealth can play an indispensable role in the most pressing issues of our time.

“Ours is an association not just of shared values, but of common purpose and joint action.

“In this we are blessed with the ingenuity and imagination of a third of the world’s population, including one and a half billion people under the age of 30.

“Our shared humanity contains an immensely precious diversity of thought, culture, tradition and experience. By listening to each other, we will find so many of the solutions that we seek.”

A body language expert said that the King appeared to be “impatient” during the service – with his sister-in-law Sophie stepping in tobreak the ice with a PDA.

Meanwhile, some royal fans were leftdisappointed that William and Kate’s children George, Charlotte and Louis were absent from the occasion.
