Carol Kirkwood announced in May live on BBC Breakfast that she was engaged to her mystery partner Steve. The meteorologist revealed her fiance proposed with a stunning halo ring while the couple was on holiday.

The 60-year-old sparked questions during her appearance on BBC Breakfast on Friday as fans wondered if she swapped her engagement ring for a new diamond wedding band.

Viewers took to Twitter after they spotted a “new ring” when the presenter delivered her latest weather forecast.

One viewer quizzed: “Am I seeing things or has Carol switched rings on #BBCBreakfast?”

Another questioned: “Morning Carol, have you got married in secret ?? I noticed another ring on your finger this morning, have a great Christmas xx.”

A third chimed in: “I think I see it, it looks more sparkly/bigger than her engagement ring if I’m correct? Either way, congrats Carol!”

Express.co.uk has contacted Carol Kirkwood’s representatives for comment.

The BBC favourite previously opened up about her engagement news on the show earlier this year.

“We got engaged when we were on holiday so it’s lovely news and we’re both thrilled,’ Carol said, adding: “We went out for a picnic, I had no idea”.

She went on: “The weather was glorious. We were sitting, chatting, my other half was a wee bit nervous for some reason that I didn’t know, he was fumbling in his pocket and out came a ring.

“I thought he was joking actually, I didn’t believe him to start with but it was lovely – it was quite romantic.”

The weather presenter, who has previously been married, admitted her partner Steve is the “best thing that’s ever happened to me”.

Speaking to Prima Magazine in 2021, the TV star said: “He always makes me a cup of tea before I go to work in the morning, which is very romantic – it’s 2.45am and he often leaves me a little love note for when I come home from work. That, to me, is worth a million red roses.”

The on-screen star was previously married to Jimmy Kirkwood but the pair split after 18 years of marriage.

Carol opened up about her divorce in 2018 as she spoke candidly about their relationship.

She told Radio Times: “I found myself when I got divorced. I started to do things and to think, ‘I’m not going to say no, I’m going to say yes.’

“I’m braver now. I’ve flown with the Red Arrows, jumped out of planes with the Red Devils.”

The weather presenter had married Jimmy in 1990 but parted ways in 2008 and their divorce was finalised in 2012.

Carol has since announced the release of her third novel, The Secrets of the Villa Amore, which will be released next year.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, she penned: “Got some exciting news! I am thrilled to share the title of my third novel, #TheSecretsoftheVillaAmore, coming summer 2023.”

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One at 6am.
