Carol Vorderman wants to carry on dating as she’s ‘not ready to settle

Carol Vorderman reflects on her breakup from ex-husband

Carol Vorderman says she feels an “amazing sense of freedom” and has loved causing mischief since entering her sixties.

The former Countdown maths whizz also admitted she is relishing living alone for the first time in her life.

The 62-year-old mother-of-two certainly showed no fear when she threw herself off a huge cliff in a dramatic challenge on ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…South Africa last week.

Bravely dropping 50m over the edge after shouting “Hello Africa, I love you!”, she plummeted down the sheer rock face, remembering a numbered code before being hoisted back to the top.

Vorders – as she is affectionately known to her millions of fans – is clearly loving life.

“All I would say right now is that I want to work less,” she admitted to the Sunday Express, during an interview ahead of her I’m A Celeb stint.

“I used to be a workaholic and now I am a do-aholic. I get up in the morning and think, ‘I’m determined to learn to kayak today’.” The star, who first appeared in the jungle in 2016, said. “I never stop and I’ve realised that now, at this time of my life, I will never stop. But I don’t want to sit in coffee shops – it bores me to tears.

“I love belly laughing and causing mischief and, after lockdown, I’m ready to have some fun!”

Carol was married for a decade to Patrick King, the father of her children, Katie, 30, and Cameron, 25. But now she admits she enjoys dating and “doesn’t want to settle down” with anyone.

“I’m feeling this amazing sense of freedom,” she declares. “You have no idea how different this time in life is. It’s the first time in my life I have lived on my own. It’s my first time not being married and without children, and I love it. It has taken me a long time to get to this point.”

She may have won Rear of the Year twice but the TV presenter, who has an IQ of 154, said: “I don’t care if I am never in the paper again for what I’m wearing. I didn’t get on TV to be famous for that.”
