Cloris Leachman, the Oscar-winning actress who’s TV royalty, passed away of natural causes on Jan. 26 at her home in Encinitas, California. She was 94. Cloris, regarded as one of the funniest actresses of all time, became a household name in the ’70s when she starred on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” She even got her own spinoff, “Phyllis,” which netted her two Emmy awards and a Golden Globe. To date, she’s the most nominated actress in Emmy history, as she’s tied with Julia Louis-Dreyfus with the most wins. Her career would also take her to movies, where her success continued, even winning an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 1971 for her role in “The Last Picture Show.” Following her passing, many in Hollywood weighed in on her death and paid tribute.
