AceShowbiz -A number of celebrities have used their platforms to voice support for Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion. Having taken part in “Stand Up for Ukraine” social media rally, the likes of Celine Dion, Jonas Brothers and Katy Perry urged fans to follow in their footsteps.
In a post shared on Twitter and Instagram, Celine declared, “I #StandUpForUkraine and for refugees around the world. I’m calling on world leaders to help all those who are forced to leave their homes.” She added, “Please make sure that they get the support that they desperately need now – Celine xx…”
Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas and Kevin Jonas then penned on their own post, “Refugees in Ukraine and around the world need urgent humanitarian aid. When crisis strikes, those impacted struggle to find shelter, food, and other basic necessities.” They continued, “We are calling on world leaders to mobilize funds to help those fleeing conflict. #StandUpForUkraine ForUkraine.com.”
As for Katy, she shared on Instagram a heartbreaking video of the situation in Ukraine. Alongside the clip, she noted, “We’ve all seen the horror unfold in Ukraine, so we know how desperately they need help, and this is the time for all of us – but most especially our leaders – to #StandUpForUkraine. Support the refugees! ForUkraine.com.”/p>
Elton John, in the meantime, shared in his message, “We are devastated to see the suffering of people in Ukraine as this conflict unfolds.” He continued, “Two decades ago, we pledged to raise awareness and provide support for people living with HIV in Ukraine through @EJAF. They, and so many more, need our help now more than ever.”
“Join us and @glblctzn as we #StandUpforUkraine to help people whose lives have been turned upside down and leave everything behind for a safer life,” the English musician stated. “No one should have to experience this kind of tragedy.”
Other artists who joined the rally were Green Day, Adam Lambert, Barbra Streisand, Bruce Springsteen, Garth Brooks, U2, Madonna and Jennifer Lopez among others. Actors like Hugh Jackman, Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis and Billy Porter also participated.
The “Stand Up For Ukraine” rally is organized by Global Citizen one day ahead of a pledging event that is set to take place on Saturday, April 9 in Warsaw, Poland. The evening, which goal is raising billions of dollars in funding to relieve the refugee crisis, will be hosted by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
