Charlotte Crosby was on cloud nine after discovering that she was expecting a baby earlier this year.
But her joy was short-lived, as just weeks after receiving the life-changing news, the former Geordie Shore’s star’s mum, Letitia, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
Charlotte, 32, is due to give birth to a daughter by c-section next month, but she’s confided to OK! that she’s struggling to feel any excitement at the prospect of becoming a mum, since so much of her time is dedicated to caring for her own mother, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Catching up with us ahead of the brand new series of Geordie Shore: The Reunion, Charlotte said, "With my mum going through chemotherapy and spending over six hours in hospital with her per day, I’ve got to try to put all the baby business to the back of my mind. I’ve got zero time to think about it."
The exhausted star – who suffered an ectopic pregnancy back in 2016 – continued, "It just doesn’t even feel like I’m having a baby. But at the same time, it feels like I’ve been pregnant for an eternity. I’ve got so many other things going on in my life – I don’t have time to be nervous about giving birth yet."
Mum Letitia, 53, was diagnosed with breast cancer following a routine mammogram earlier this year, just weeks after daughter Charlotte announced she was expecting her first baby with boyfriend Jake Ankers.
"It was so difficult to tell Charlotte I had cancer," Letitia said last month. "We had all the happy news a couple of months before that she was having the baby.
"We were all so happy. We had so many things to look forward to. So telling her I had cancer when she was pregnant was so hard. All I was thinking about was my first grandchild – and then you get the diagnosis and it just overshadows it."
As if dealing with her mum’s diagnosis wasn’t hard enough, Charlotte was then horrified to discover a lump in her own breast.
Charlotte said, "I became so much more aware of my own body. And then I found a lump literally just after mum was diagnosed.
"I went to get it checked out straight away. Luckily it was nothing bad."
Last month the TV favourite threw a lavish baby shower at her Sunderland home with mum Letitia by her side.
During an exclusive chat with OK! following the bash, she told us, “It meant everything to be able to have my mam at my baby shower before she started her treatment, so she could let go a bit and have some fun.
"It’s been such a traumatic time and she’s been through a whole rollercoaster of emotions. I am just trying to stay positive and keep my mam’s mind off what she’s going through by organising fun things and making fun memories together."
We hope the baby’s arrival puts a big smile on both your faces.
Geordie Shore: The Reunion premieres on 20th September at 10pm only on Paramount+ UK and MTV.
