ITV poach Michelin-starred chef for brand new series after 13 years with the BBC
Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge has been poached by ITV for a new show after 13 years with the BBC.
The television personality, 49, known for his top quality pub grub, is set to tour the UK for a new cooking show, serving up regional dishes for local people.
Tom rose to fame in 2010 on BBC series Great British Menu and in 2012 starred on MasterChef: The Professionals.
He has appeared on a number of other BBC shows since, including Tom Kerridge’s Proper Pub Food, The Food Detectives, Top of the Shop with Tom Kerridge and Saving Britain’s Pubs with Tom Kerridge among others.
A source told The Sun: ‘While he’s been in programmes on all the networks, the BBC has always been Tom’s broadcasting home so a move to ITV is seismic.

‘He made his name on the Great British Menu and even returned as a judge later.
‘But golden handcuff deals rarely stand these days, with a raft of former BBC darlings including Claudia Winkleman and Graham Norton signing to work on other channels.
‘Either way, it’s great news for viewers. Tom’s easy style will work well for ITV.’
Tom’s show, which has a working title of Tom Kerridge Cooks Britain, is set to start production later this year and is from the team behind ITV’s Cooking With The Stars.
It comes after Tom was slammed by trolls for selling pricey fish and chips while the country battles a ‘cost of living crisis’.
Tom, who owns a string of restaurants across the UK, sells a plate of fish and chips for a staggering £35.
The budget-busting price gets one battered fish and eight chips.
Tom’s notorious chippy dish is up for grabs at Kerridge’s Fish and Chips, located at luxury department store Harrods in London.
Controversy: It comes after Tom angered customers by selling fish and chips for £35 at Harrods in London
It’s far from the first time the chef has been criticised for prices of his dishes – after selling £87 steak dinners and £60 ready-made fish pie.
The star defended the dish, saying: ‘This Market Day Fish is made with my light and crisp, gluten free batter and served with triple cooked chips.
‘It includes Matson curry sauce, tartare sauce and pease pudding’ he added.
Unfortunately it’s done little to calm angry Brits who’ve lambasted the price as insensitive during a time of economic hardship.
One person said: ‘The whole of the UK is in a shambles financially.
‘But £35 for a scrawny bit of fish and seven or eight chips is fine.
‘Oh and the thimbles of sauce’ they said sarcastically alongside a thumbs up emoticon.
Another added: ‘Eight chips and a tiny thin bit of fish? This is pretentious b**ocks’.
Meanwhile one person urged Brits to back their local chippies, writing: ‘How much? Just go to the local chippy, so much better quality’.
Unimpressed? Brits have lambasted the chef for selling one battered fish and eight chips for over £30
‘Or just go to the chip shop and pay a fiver’ said another.
Also in disbelief at the price, someone wrote: ‘Ridiculous price to charge. Especially with the cost-of-living-crisis.
‘Shame on them’.
One other person said: ‘Wafer thin fish and eight chips. Television chefs are all becoming so out of touch with Joe Public’.
Speaking out: Tom defended the price, and revealed that it’s ‘made with light and crisp, gluten free batter and served with triple cooked chips’
