Chloe Bailey of Chloe x Halle recently took to Instagram to address the backlash that she has continued to receive in response to some of the more provocative videos that she posted to the social networking site.
“I really love who I am,” she said to her fans, who tuned in for an impromptu Instagram Live, during which she went over her journey to self-love.
“A woman can be strong and stand in her power in every single way,” she shared, wiping away tears. “I do it musically with my songwriting, with my producing. I feel so bada-s.”
“And I get the same feeling when I dance in my room, when I just own who I am and my body,” she added, in reference to a clip of herself dancing around in her underwear as she saged her bedroom using Palo Santo products.
She added that it’s “really hard for me to think of myself as a sexual being or an attractive being quite frankly,” and so, she was confused by the “uproar about my posts and stuff.”
“I really don’t understand because I’ve never seen myself in that way or in that light,” she continued. “So I take it as a huge compliment that you even think of me as a sexual, sexy being.”
Several artists have come out in her defense, including Cardi B, Wale, City Girls‘ JT, and Yung Baby Tate, among others.
