Christina Ricci was granted a domestic violence restraining order against husband James Heerdegen Wednesday in Los Angeles after telling the court she ‘found herself trapped in a house with a violent abuser’ amid the coronavirus lockdown.
The actress, 40, told the court that Heerdegen has assaulted her on multiple occasions, TMZ reported, leaving her in fear for her safety and that of their six-year-old son, Freddie.
Heerdegen has been ordered by the court to remain at least 100 yards away from Ricci and their son, and maintain no contact with them.

The Santa Monica native said that Heerdegen, who she married in 2013, started his pattern of abuse in a December 2019 incident in which he beat her up, spit on her and mocked her with pig noises; Ricci said the incident convinced her she needed to get a divorce.
The Mothers and Daughters star said that the pandemic lockdown slowed the divorce process, he wound up attacking her in two separate June 2020 incidents.
Ricci told the court she was injured with cuts and bruises after he threw her into a fire pit in one incident after physically dragging her by the wrists outside.
In a subsequent attack, Ricci told the court that their son witnessed an attack in which Heerdegen spit on her and threw a chair and coffee in her direction. Ricci said in court docs that she was alarmed by a remark Heerdegen once made in her in late 2019, as Heerdegen ‘said something that made me think that [he] could kill’ her.
Ricci said Heerdegen told her ‘the only way he could feel sorry for me is if I were dismembered into small pieces,’ leading her to hide the knives and sharp objects on the premises.
Larry Bakman, who is Heerdegen’s lawyer, said his client ‘unequivocally denies all allegations of abuse made by Ms. Ricci as having occurred in 2020,’ TMZ reported.
Heerdegen intends to file a restraining order against Ricci that will reveal ‘her abusive conduct fueled by alcohol and substance abuse,’ his attorney said.
Ricci has also asked the court to block Heerdegen’s potential efforts to ‘humiliate and embarrass’ her with audio and video clips he amassed during their relationship.
