Coronation Street star Wendi Peters ‘splits from husband of 20 years’

Coronation Street legend Wendi Peters has separated from her partner of 20 years, Kenny Linden, according to reports.

The soap favourite is best known to Corrie fans for her role as Cilla Battersby-Brown in the long-running ITV soap, and had been married to her actor-turned-sports-masseuse husband Kenny Linden for well over two decades.

But according to a pal, the marriage has since come to an end, with Wendi having moved out of the family home to live alone in Hertfordshire.

An insider told The Sun: “Wendi and Kenny were together for a long time and had a mostly happy marriage but grew apart.

"Wendi is focusing on her new role in Doctors and looking ahead to the future.”

OK! have reached out to Wendi’s reps for comment.

According to the insider, the couple’s grown up daughter, fellow actress Gracie is still living with her father, with the couple having previously gone through seven rounds of IVF in order to conceive her.

Away from his life as an actor and masseuse, Kenny was recently registered blind due to a rare hereditary condition PXE (pseudoxanthoma elasticum), which affects only around 1,500 people in the UK.

It isn’t the only health battle Kenny has faced in recent years either, as Wendi also opened up about a previous health scare he had suffered during a 2014 interview.

She previously said: "We had been together six months when we visited my parents and Kenny said he wasn't feeling well," says Wendi.

"Then he had a major stomach haemorrhage and vomited blood all over their downstairs loo.

"He frightened us all and we took him to hospital where doctors gave him a blood transfusion and stopped the blood loss.”

Although Wendi no longer stars in Coronation Street, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of a return in the future.

Speaking to Inside Soap last month, the star jokingly quipped: "I heard Chesney's getting married, but I don't think anybody's told his mother.”

Speculating on how things might go if Cilla were to make a comeback, she also cheekily added: "I think it would be funny if Cilla met Evelyn and Bernie. Maureen Lipman is a comic genius, and Jane Hazlegrove is a brilliant actress.

"I can imagine them having some great comedy scenes round the wedding buffet, but who knows?”
