Cynthia Nixon DISSED By Famed Former SATC Costume Designer: 'She Thinks She Knows Everything'

Damn! Sex and the City’s former costume designer, Patricia Field, is opening up about what it was like to work on the fashion-forward series back in the day, and spoiler alert: it doesn’t sound great!

While speaking with The Sunday Times this week, the famed fashion expert — who did not return for the revival And Just Like That… because she is working on the set of Emily in Paris, was asked her opinion about the new series’ costumes for Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis. Field’s former assistant, Molly Rogers, has taken over the helm as costume designer on the HBO Max series, so, while she admittedly doesn’t love everything she’s seen so far, she’s not faulting her one-time mentee for that! Field shared:

“I like some of it, I don’t like all of it, but I know what Molly’s dealing with.”

Uhh, and just what might that be?!

When pressed to explain that truly inneresting jab, the 79-year-old laughed, adding:

“Well, I know those gals! Sarah Jessica thinks she knows everything — and she does.”

SJP famously plays Carrie Bradshaw in the franchise, but she’s also an executive producer meaning she gets an extra say on what makes it on the screen. TBH, it’s no surprise Patricia has a soft spot for the star, as the 56-year-old actress was the one who recommended Field for the job after all! For those unfamiliar, they originally met on the set of Miami Rhapsody before heading to the television show together.

So, who does Patricia blame for the wardrobe problems then?! She continued with a “cackle,” saying:

“Cynthia Nixon thinks she knows everything — and she doesn’t! Even today, when I speak with Molly, it’s about Cynthia. I say, ‘I remember what you are going through.’”

Yikes!! Is she really that much of a pain?? Oof. (Also wild for her to throw Molly under the bus, too!)

Nixon is also an executive producer on the revival, so that’s likely adding to some extra difficulty when fighting over what outfits to place her character, Miranda Hobbes, in. She even directed an episode of AJLT this season, so even more power to her! But it’s unclear exactly why she’s such a problem — we suppose Cynthia just has a different eye for style than the designers would prefer! (And maybe not a very good one… in their opinion, at least.)

As we’ve previously reported, Patricia remains “socially” connected to Kim Cattrall, who notably opted out of the SATC revival over issues with Parker. The costume designer took a moment to open up about her relationship with Cattrall on Sunday, reflecting on what likely helped form their initial friendship:

“I would walk into her dressing room and she’d be watching old female comedians like Mae West.”

But just because they’re friends doesn’t mean Patricia’s been blind to the controversy surrounding Kim’s departure from the franchise. The fashionista concluded:

“It is a vacuum. I hear it everywhere. Everyone is mad she won’t be in it.”

Well… the fans were until they realized how cringe-worthy the series was! Thoughts on all this, Perezcious readers? Are you surprised that Nixon is the set diva?? Sound OFF in the comments (below)!
