The ‘ROCKSTAR’ rapper’s legal team says that the security footage, which features the emcee shooting and killing a man at Walmart back in November 2018, actually backs up the rapper’s claim.
AceShowbiz -While people doubt DaBaby‘s self-defense claim after watching the newly-obtained footage of the rapper shooting and killing a man at Walmart, his lawyers say that it’s the opposite. The “ROCKSTAR” rapper’s legal team says that the video actually backs up the rapper’s claim.
Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, who both represent DaBaby, told TMZ that the footage was reviewed by prosecutors back in 2018. “Witnesses were interviewed and corroborated Mr. Kirk’s statement,” the rapper’s legal team shared with the outlet.
“The entirety of the surveillance video was viewed and determined to corroborate Mr. Kirk’s statement,” they noted. “Mr. Kirk was protecting himself and his family at the time of the shooting.”
DaBaby was cleared in the November 2018 murder of Jaylin Craig after he claimed that he shot him at a Walmart in self-defense. However, the new video saw him throwing the first punch at Jaylin’s friend Henry Douglas. While Henry and DaBaby got into a physical altercation, Jaylin approached them, seemingly attempting to break up the fight. Later in the video, DaBaby was seen sliding onto the floor to pick up a gun before firing the gun off camera.
In response to the footage, DaBaby insinuated that the media was trying to sway the opinion of the masses. “Cuz the media got they a** brainwashed,” the North Carolina native wrote in a tweet. He also appeared to downplay the security footage in a post on Instagram Story.
Alongside a Tyrese Gibson meme, the emcee wrote, “n***a done take 30 million from me , lie on me once a week, want my fine a** BM’s to hate me , want me to lose fights I don’t start , WHAT MORE DO U WANT FROM MEEE?” He also added several laughing-and-crying face emojis.
