Good Morning Britain presenter Piers Morgan, 55, and BBC Breakfast host Dan Walker, 43, clashed after the former took a swipe at the BBC show’s viewing statistics. After sharing several posts, Dan finally broke his silence and hit back at his television rival.

Today, the feud continued after the journalist shared a new article which included a mock-up of the pair wearing boxing gloves with the headline, ’Dan vs Piers shaping up to big fight’.

In view of his 7.7 million followers, the presenter shared the article with the caption: “OUCH!

“BBC Breakfast has been painfully dull for years… as Piers & Susanna hit a ratings high… if you’d like to observe the definition of a sore loser, head to ⁦@mrdanwalker⁩’s Twitter account.”

Dan soon hit back at Piers, accusing him of getting his journalist friends to write “rubbish” about him.

He wrote: “I’m not getting dragged into this guff while so many people are struggling… however many of your ‘mates’ you get to write rubbish about me.

“We have a huge, loyal audience on #BBCBreakfast every single day.”

But refusing to stop there, the father-of-four added: “Maybe tell your press office?”

Twitter users swiftly shared their thoughts on the pair’s exchange.

One wrote: “The rivalry between you should always be healthy one, but should always remain respectful.”(sic)

A second added: “Class from Dan Walker! The adult in the room!”

A third commented: “Won’t hear the end of this!”

Yesterday, figures showed that Good Morning Britain had their “highest-rated show” in their history on Wednesday.

In the BBC’s latest report, they stated the Breakfast show’s streams were up by 56 per cent on BBC iPlayer since 2019 and were the “most watched breakfast programme in the UK”.

In a swipe at BBC Breakfast, Piers said in a tweet: “We’re taking them down, one viewer at a time.”

Dan went on to retweet a post which suggested the Good Morning Britain presenter and co-star Susanna Reid were “slipping back behind”.

The former editor went on to mock BBC Breakfast’s live stream statistics.

“Live stream requests,” Piers tweeted alongside multiple crying with laughter emojis. “PS Transfer window’s still open – you’ve still got time to sell @mrdanwalker.”

The BBC host replied: “I don’t want to enter into a ‘twitter spat’ with you because I think it’s unsavoury… particularly at the moment.

“I’ve always said GMB does a good job and it’s important that the audience has a choice. All the best.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV at 6am, while BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
