The ‘Pop Idol’ legend and ‘Colourblind’ singer was pictured ditching his shoes while walking near his Minnesota home with the Hollywood actor, weeks before he’s found dead in his apartment.
AceShowbiz –Darius Campbell Danesh got to spend his time with Gerard Butler before his sudden passing. The Scottish singer/songwriter was seen hanging out with the Hollywood A-lister in what are currently known as his final pictures.
The “Pop Idol” star was photographed walking barefoot near his Minnesota home along with the “Angel Has Fallen” actor, who also ditched his shoes, in the photos obtained by Daily Star. The musician carried his brown shoes with his gray trousers being rolled up. For the outing that day, he also rocked a casual black T-shirt and a navy painter hat with a pair of sunglasses being hung on his collar.
Gerard, meanwhile, looked buff in a pale blue polo shirt and dark gray jeans, with his white sneakers slung over his shoulder. He carried a phone in his hand and accessorized with a gold bracelet while walking slightly ahead Darius.
The images were reportedly taken weeks before Darius was found dead in an apartment in Rochester, Minnesota on Thursday, August 11. His family confirmed the sad news on Tuesday, August 16 in a statement.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darius Campbell Danesh,” the family announced. “Darius was found unresponsive in bed in his apartment room in Rochester, Minnesota, on August 11 and was pronounced dead in the afternoon by the local medical examiners’ office.”
The statement continued to read, “The local police department have confirmed that there were no signs of intent or suspicious circumstances. The cause of his sudden death is unknown at this stage while medical examinations continue.”
“We ask that you kindly respect our wishes for privacy at this time whilst we come to terms with the tragic loss of our son and brother,” the family added. He was 41.
Other details regarding the circumstances of Darius’ passing are currently unknown as the Rochester police department told Variety his death is currently the subject of “an open investigation.”
Darius rose to fame with his rendition of Britney Spears‘ “…Baby One More Time” on ITV’s show “Popstars” in 2001. The following year, he appeared on Simon Cowell‘s talent scouting competition “Pop Idol”, finishing third behind Will Young and Gareth Gates. He went on to release a single, “Colourblind”, which reached No. 1 in the U.K. charts.
Darius later took his musical talent to West End, where he appeared in several shows, including “Chicago” alongside America Ferrera, “Funny Girl” alongside Sheridan Smith and “Guys and Dolls”.
After moving to the U.S., Darius married Canadian actress Natasha Henstridge in 2011. The pair filed for divorce in 2013 and didn’t have a kid together. Despite their “turbulent” romance, they stayed close following their split.
In the wake of his passing, the “Species” star has paid tribute to him on Instagram. “There are no words Darius… only Love Love Love. Forever Janam,” she wrote along with several snaps of the two together.
