David and Victoria Beckham ‘spent New Year in Miami' after flying out for work

The Beckhams reportedly spent the New Year in Miami after flying out to the USA for David Beckham to work, spending it at Nicola Peltz’s family’s mansion.

The family is said to have flown out of the UK on a private jet on Christmas Day to avoid the new travel restrictions after David had been unable to head to Miami for work with his football team, Inter Miami, since last March.

According to The Sun, David and Victoria, as well as their children Brooklyn, 21, Romeo, 18, Cruz, 15, and nine-year-old Harper all got tested for coronavirus before they left to spend the rest of the holidays with Brooklyn’s fiancee’s family.

The Beckhams are also said to be planning to stay until the end of next month following the new lockdown being imposed this side of the pond and will be home-schooling their three youngest children.

A source close to David told the newspaper: ‘David and Victoria had been planning this trip for months.

‘David needed to be in Miami in January on Inter Miami duty because it’s the start of the MLS pre-season, and he is helping recruit new players.

‘He also hadn’t been able to get there since last March due to restrictions so it was an important trip.’

The family friend went on to say the family left the UK after spending Christmas morning at their home in the Cotswolds and testing negative for coronavirus.

They added: ‘Unfortunately, and in a scenario beyond their control, since being Stateside, lockdown mk iii came into effect.

‘As schools are not reopening as planned this week, the family will now stay in Miami longer with David as the children can do their schooling online from Miami, just as they would from home in UK.

‘Clearly, it’s probably a lot nicer in Miami than it is in grizzly, frozen Oxfordshire.

‘They’re loving spending more time together as a family, even if it wasn’t in the circumstances planned.’

Foreign travel is currently banned in the UK, except for work purposes, and anyone returning must self-isolate for five days after testing negative.
