Deborah James was left in floods of tears as she responded to the Queen's decision to her a Damehood.
Sharing an emotional update on her Instagram page, the 40 year old mum-of-two, who is married to husband Sebastian Bowen, said she was left "humbled" by the honour, and couldn't believe she was even considered for it.
Following a difficult week that saw the BBC Radio 5 star and journalist announce she had sadly been moved into at-home hospice care and it was time to say "goodbye" to her fans, Deborah said it was difficult to address the latest support without the "overwhelming tears getting in the way".
"I’m humbled and blown away that 5 years of talking about poo can lead to a Damehood!" Deborah began, her signature humour never far away.
"I feel honoured and shocked that I even got considered.
"These last 4 days of your unwavering support launching the @bowelbabefund to benefit @cr_uk, @royalmarsden And @bowelcanceruk seem like a whirlwind of surreal dreaming when each day I can’t fathom the kindness and generosity. £4 Million!!!
"I can simply only give thanks for the wonderful people in the world and say the most heartfelt thank you for your unconditional support not just now but over the years."
The podcast host, who has battled bowel cancer and tirelessly raised awareness for the disease for the last five years, also gave an update on her condition. She explained that with each passing day she's getting "more and more sleepy and finding life a little harder".
"I’ve had – More time to think that I’ve never stopped to realise the impact that our podcasting, and talking, and campaigning has had over 5 years.
"Small chats really can save lives, small conversations can create ripples far beyond where we might see them, and seeds might grow where we’re never see their fruits," the star went on.
Sharing her thoughts that there is something "exciting and beautiful" about the cycle of life, she is hopeful the money raised will help to give people with cancer more time with their loved ones.
"Who knows what plants we might grow, but when done with hope we pray that some blossom into game changers for our kids, and many more to come," Deborah concluded philosophically.
