Following on from claims that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's request to "fly back to the US with President Biden on Air Force One" after attending Queen Elizabeth's funeral was denied, a Royal expert has said the couple were oblivious to the "sensitivities of the situation."

The Duke and Duchess, who stepped back as working members of the Royal Family in 2020, wanted to fly back on the famous plane, but supposedly had their request denied by the White House over fears it could harm relations with the Royal Family.

Now, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond has said the former royal couple have a "deluded idea of their status on the world stage" and were "insensitive" to put the Presidential couple in that position.

Speaking to OK!, Jennie explained: "The fact that Harry and Meghan’s people have not denied that they asked to fly on Air Force One certainly suggests that it is true – and that points to two things.

"Firstly, they have a very grandiose and deluded idea of their status on the world stage. And, secondly, they are impervious to the sensitivities of the situation they have created by stepping back as working Royals and then firing volleys of allegations at the royal family from their Californian haven.

"Surely they could see that it would – and did – put the President in a very awkward position by asking him effectively to take sides in the family rift. How very insensitive."

According to Newsnation, Harry and Meghan are also being "snubbed" by their famous Montecito neighbours – which include the likes of Steven Spielberg, Julia Louise-Dreyfus and Rob Lowe – so as not to alienate Prince William and Kate.

Jennie adds: "From the little, I know about the world of Hollywood, it is defined by its superficiality and posturing and it’s all about who you know, who you are seen with and how rich you are.

"It seems that most shrewd A-Listers are looking to the future, and realising that siding with a King in waiting and his brilliant, glamorous wife is a better look than siding with two ex-working Royals, who are looking rather adrift at the moment.

"In this particular battle for supremacy – if that’s what it is – William and Kate are winning, simply by being who they are and getting on with their jobs."
