Denise Welch on Meghan’s Coronation snub after claim she ‘bottled it’

Meghan Markle set to miss King’s Coronation as Harry attends

Prince Harry, 38, and Meghan Markle, 41, have been at the centre of global speculation on whether they will attend King Charles’s Coronation on May 6.

Both Buckingham Palace and Archewell released a statement today which confirmed the Duke of Sussex will be in attendance without the Duchess who will remain in California with the couple’s children Prince Archie Harrison and Princess Lilibet Diana.

Harry, who opened up about his troubled relationship with the Windsors in the Sussexes’ controversial Netflix documentary and his autobiography Spare, will witness Charles and his stepmother, Camilla, the Queen Consort, crowned at Westminster Abbey on May 6.

Denise Welch, 64, took to Twitter and reacted to a post by Dan Wootton who suggested Meghan had “bottled it”.

Dan’s tweet read: “So Meghan bottles it, leaving Prince Harry to attend the Coronation alone in order to avoid boos from angry Brits in the crowd.

“But how sad to deny the king the chance to see his two grandchildren who will remain in California.”

In view of her 555,000 followers, the Loose Women panellist defended Meghan’s decision as she claimed the Duchess of Sussex after constantly being in the press “every single day”.She added: “Why on earth would she want to come here?

“And she doesn’t get booed. The crowds love her!!! And those who don’t??? If only they knew eh Dan.”

Social media users also defended Meghan’s decision to stay in California.

Joss penned: “I really want the Fab Four back together. William, Kate, Harry and Meghan could’ve secured the future of the monarchy.”

Sharon tweeted: “So true, damned if she does, damned if she doesn’t. Plus it’s Archie’s 4th birthday.”

Sam added: “I’m so glad she’s staying away from all this palaver.”

Archewell said in a statement: “The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

While the Palace said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

It is reported that Archie and Lilibet were not formally invited to the event as organisers were waiting to hear if they would make the trip to the UK before devising any plans.

Harry’s appearance will also be the first time he has been pictured with the Windsors since the funeral of his grandmother the late Queen.
