Donny Osmond, 64, caused a frenzy in his fanbase on Wednesday as his team revealed he was too ill to perform at his Wednesday and Thursday shows. Yesterday the star reappeared on social media for the first time since the announcement was made.
The singer became sweetly nostalgic while recovering from his illness.
On Friday, Donny tweeted a photo of a 1972 Teen Photo Album magazine issue he had found.
A teenaged Donny graced the cover with the headline: “Could you be Donny’s steady? Take his love test and find out.”
Donny asked if any of his followers had their own copy of the November 1972 issue, and while some did, his comments section became inundated with countless magazine covers featuring his face.
There were countless tales of dedicated fans convincing their parents to let them buy the magazines and pin posters on their walls.
One user even recalled sharing a magazine of him with her friends in high school: “One girl brought it to school and 6 of (us) shared it.
“Got to take it home for two nights then the next girl got it to take home. We also got to walk around school with it for our two days.”
On Instagram, the nostalgia continued as Donny posted a clip of him singing in the seventies.
He captioned the post: “A fun throwback for your day today! Enjoy this performance of ‘Love Will Find a Way’ from 1978.”
On Wednesday the singer was forced to cancel two shows in his Las Vegas residence due to ill health.
His residency at Harrah’s is his first solo venture in Las Vegas.
Previously, Donny and his sister Marie had a hugely successful residency that lasted 11 years.
His team wrote on all of Donny’s social media platforms on Wednesday: “We regret to inform you that today and tomorrow’s shows at Harrah’s Las Vegas on November 16th and 17th are cancelled due to Donny experiencing flu-like symptoms.
“Refunds are available at the point of purchase.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and are wishing Donny a speedy recovery.”
The posts were bombarded with messages of love and support from fans, despite the sadness of the shows being cancelled.
One follower on Instagram said: “I wasn’t even going and I’m disappointed.
“Speedy recovery Mr O!!”
Another fan noted: “Hope he feels better. This is the 5th person today that is sick.
“I’m wrapping myself in a plastic bag and hiding lol.”
