Downton Abbey star Laura Carmichael ‘secretly gave birth to baby boy with boyfriend Michael Fox’

Downton Abbey couple Laura Carmichael and boyfriend Michael C Fox reportedly secretly welcomed a baby boy in March last year.

The 35 year old actress, who played Lady Edith Grantham on the ITV period drama, gave birth to a son she named Luca, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication: “Laura and Michael absolutely love being parents and were grateful to have some time away from the limelight to enjoy the moment.

“Laura's taken motherhood in her stride and it's added another string to her bow.”

OK! has contacted Laura and Michael's representatives for comment.

Laura met 33 year old Michael, who played footman Andrew Parker on Downton Abbey, as they filmed the fifth series of the hit show.

They’ve been together since 2016 and took the step of moving in together two years ago.

In 2019, Laura told Town and Country of her time on Downton Abbey: “I've fallen in love and made wonderful friends – how lucky am I?”

Michael has also spoken about their relationship, telling the Sunday Post: “We'd go to work and we didn't want it to be a thing in any way when we were working together.

“It was great, though, to go to work with your best pal.”

Whilst they largely keep their relationship out of the spotlight, the pair looked glamorous as they attended the Downton Abbey: A New Era film premiere earlier this week.

Laura looked incredible in a pale pink chiffon gown with a huge bow detail.

She wore her short blonde hair in a tousled style and sported winged eyeliner as she posed confidently with Michael, who looked dapper in a black suit.

Laura admitted she was “terrified” as she made her return to the red carpet after so long, saying: “After so long in lockdown, walking the red carpet was a shock for us all. I was terrified.”

Downton Abbey: A New Era, which is directed by Love Actually director Richard Curtis, sees the Crawley family go on a grand journey to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Violet Crawley's newly inherited villa.

In the trailer, Dowager Countess of Grantham, Violet Crawley, played by Dame Maggie Smith, says: “I've come into the possession of villa in the South of France.”

She continues: “Years ago, before you were born. I met a man.”

The film, which has already got great reviews, sees Hugh Bonneville, Michelle Dockery and Penelope Wilton return to our screens.
